About — C. TORRISI

My name is Carmelo Claudio Torrisi. I was born in Freiburg and work in the fields of art, photography and graphic design.

My artistic work mainly encompasses painting and photography. I am interested in atmosphere, aesthetics and the effect of images, as well as in the various ways of expressing personal impressions and ideas visually.

I completed my training as a graphic designer at the Akademie für Kommunikation in Freiburg. The design thinking I developed there still shapes my approach to image, composition, colour and visual language today.

Alongside my art, photography is an important part of my work. It allows me to capture special moments and to look at them from different perspectives.

Today I bring together art, photography and graphic design into a personal visual language. I want not only to shape images, but to create works that develop their own atmosphere and effect.

In my artistic work I concern myself with atmosphere, perception and the effect of images.

I am interested in how colour, light, forms and composition can create a particular mood, and how an image develops an effect of its own beyond what is immediately visible.

My works arise from the combination of observation, intuition and design exploration. I do not always want to tell a clear-cut story. Rather, my images should leave room for different perceptions and personal interpretations.

Painting and photography give me different points of access. While painting allows me to work more freely with colour, form and expression, photography gives me the opportunity to capture real moments, places and moods.

I see the two fields not as separate from one another, but as different forms of the same visual exploration.
